This week, Leipzig University inaugurated the Saxon Science Liaison Office in Vietnam at the two locations Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. The ceremonial opening of the liaison offices took place on July 16, 2024 at the German House in Ho Chi Minh City in cooperation with the Vietnamese German University and today, July 18, 2024 at the Hanoi University of Science and Technology.

The aim of the Saxon Science Liaison Office, which is supported by the Saxon State Ministry of Science, Culture and Tourism, is to attract students and graduates to further academic programs and career opportunities in Saxony.

Universities in Saxony can communicate their study programs to prospective Vietnamese students via the Saxon Science Liaison Office. “With this offer, we want to inspire enthusiasm for Master's degree programs, especially in the fields of STEM, engineering and economics. In particular, we want to focus on English-language subjects in Saxony in order to keep the initial language barrier as low as possible,” explains project coordinator Prof. Dr. Utz Dornberger from Leipzig University.

In addition to pure study programs, Vietnamese graduates also have the opportunity to gain direct access to the Saxon job market through additional qualifications and internships.

Leipzig University is characterized by its international cooperation and its wide range of courses. The Vice-Rector for Campus Development: Cooperation and Internationalization, Prof. Dr. Matthias Middell, emphasizes that “with the opening of the Saxon Science Liaison Office, Leipzig University is setting another milestone in its international orientation and contributing to the promotion of academic and economic exchange between Saxony and Vietnam.”

In the context of the opening of the Saxon Science Liaison Office, Leipzig University has signed two cooperation agreements with the Hanoi University of Science and Technology and the Vietnamese-German University, primarily to further develop joint study programs and research projects.
