After only cooperating in virtual environments so far, we finally held our first physical meeting of the African Center for Career Enhancement and Skills Support (ACCESS) Project consortium in Leipzig from 07 – 10.02.2022. The four-day event brought together over 30 participants from the seven partner universities, comprising board members, coordinators, doctoral students and other key personnel involved in the project.

The event was organised in a hybrid format to allow those stakeholders who could not travel to Leipzig to participate. On the Opening day, at the historic building of the Alte Handelsbörse (Old Stock Exchange) in Leipzig, we were honoured to welcome Mr. Chiheb Chaouch, the Chargé d’Affaires of the Tunisian Embassy in Germany and a representative of the Nigerian Ambassador in Germany who joined online. During the project meetings at various venues of Leipzig University, we had the opportunity to discuss key activities in the project, such as the upcoming summer schools in Benin (28 March – 01 April 2022) and Ghana (16 – 20 May 2022), the progress of the employability research and ACCESS doctoral programme, capacity building roll-out for lecturers in higher education, career enhancement activities, university-business linkages, and entrepreneurship promotion at higher education institutions.
