Together with the Kreishandwerkerschaft Region Meißen and its project partners, the SEPT Competence Center of Leipzig University established an alliance to foster the contribution of the craft sector in rural areas to contribute to structural and social change with innovations. Our patron of the project is Michael Kretschmer, Prime Minister of the Free State of Saxony.

Today, more than 70 alliance partners from the craft sector, education, research, services as well as politics and administration form the regional innovation system in the Saxon target region. The alliance aims at contributing to strengthening innovation and competence in the craft sector with the following three elements:

  • Increasing the productivity of the craft sector in cooperation with research and science
  • Increasing the attractiveness of the craft sector for young people in cooperation with the education sector
  • Development of Business model innovation and new value chains in cooperation with the creative industries

First successes have already been achieved. This includes, for example the digital registration of processes for crafts, mobile App development, or the development of open workshops in specialized formats etc.
