Course Description
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is set to transform how we live and work, particularly in research. This workshop is designed for PhD candidates and early career researchers seeking to understand and apply AI tools to enhance their research processes with little or no experience in using AI tools.
The workshop emphasizes that not utilizing AI may hinder research potential, given the technology's rapid growth. The workshop is targeted to beginners and focus on practical applications relevant to their work.
Participants will learn the fundamentals of AI, explore opportunities and risks, experience tools like ChatGPT and Google Gemini, and hear first-hand practical experience from an experienced user and long-term observer of the development of AI. There will be ample opportunity to ask and discuss questions.
Objectives include an overview of core AI concepts, effective prompt design, practical applications for research projects, and a critical examination of legal issues like plagiarism and copyright. The workshop aims to equip participants with essential skills that can also benefit their mentoring of undergraduate and master's students, positioning them at the forefront of the AI revolution in academia.
