Abstract
Martin Hänsel is Assistant Professor in Nature’s Values at the Institute for Infrastructure and Resource Management (IIRM) of the Faculty of Economics and Management Science of Leipzig University. He received his PhD in Quantitative Economics in the research group on Environmental, Resource and Ecological Economics and worked as a post-doctoral researcher at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research in the Department of Transformation Pathways before moving to Leipzig. His research is directed at the economic transformation towards sustainability, with a particular focuses on the economics of climate change and the sustainable economic management and valuation of natural resources. His work has been published in leading journals such as the American Economic Journal and Nature Climate Change, is cited several times in the latest IPCC AR6 report and receives attention in national and international policy consulting.

Martin Hänsel's research focuses on the transformation of economic systems towards sustainability. Central topics are the economics of climate change and the economics and valuation of natural resources and public goods. Methodologically, his research includes economic theory (in particular growth and general equilibrium theory), econometric analyses and integrated assessment modelling. Besides its disciplinary foundation, Martin Hänsel's research often relies on interdisciplinary and international collaborations.
